Year end letter rachel small

Dear partners in ministry,

As we near the end of 2025, I am also preparing to welcome a new baby boy! I plan to take 3 months’ maternity leave before rejoining the Daymark team in February 2026. Right now, I am in the midst of final sessions with clients. The upcoming hiatus has provided opportunity for reflection and re-evaluation. I am encouraged to see how many clients are going into the gap with hopeful hearts. They have been doing hard, painful, and beautiful heart work with the Lord, and this extended time without extra support presents an opportunity to see how far they’ve come. A few women come to mind especially who have been Christians for years but have recently experienced Jesus’ healing and closeness in ways that have changed their whole relationship to Him and the world. It’s hard to imagine more meaningful work to be a part of! Would you join me in praying that the 3-month gap would be a time of great encouragement for each of my clients, a time of clarifying that their dependence is not on me, but on the Lord who is always with them?

On a personal level, I am preparing for our second child with deep gratitude. The Lord has so clearly met me in the challenges and joys of becoming a mom to Ezra (now 2 years old), that I am entering this maternity leave with more expectancy and hope as well. I would love prayer for the physical strength and help needed in this upcoming season. As David’s health challenges continue, we are trusting to the Lord to provide for us in practical ways as we welcome a new child with all the joy (and work!) involved. Praise the Lord for his unrelenting healing of our hearts; He is always uncovering and leading me to deeper layers of dependence on Him. I’m so grateful to be His.

In addition to prayer, would you consider partnering with me financially? (Funds received during my maternity leave will be held for client scholarships in 2026). Nineteen of my current twenty-two clients would not be able to afford counseling without the generosity of people like you. Nearly half Daymark’s donations each year come through year-end contributions. Would you prayerfully consider supporting our work by giving a year-end gift, or a monthly pledge for 2026?

Thank you for your partnership in the gospel!

Gratefully,
Rachel
