Dear Friends,
Have you ever heard someone say, “I covet your prayers?” That expression has always sounded weird to me. However, on a recent Sunday I was sitting in church, only half-listening to the pastoral prayer, and I thought, “Wow, they’re praying for a Christian counselor. That would be nice if they would pray for me sometime.” Then suddenly I realized that they were praying for me. Guess I need to have a little more faith, and also pay better attention!
If you have prayed for me this year, thank you. Your prayers for me as a counselor and your care for me as a sister in Christ help me fight discouragement when the needs feel overwhelming. I truly would “covet your prayers” in 2026 as I get training in specific therapies that will help me work effectively with couples in crisis and individuals affected by childhood trauma. Marriage counseling and trauma work are very dynamic and emotionally demanding, so you might pray for Jon, too! I want to support him well in his ministry as a teacher at Restoration Academy. It’s amazing sometimes how the two ministries parallel each other. They both ask us to walk with people through periods of change in their lives, leading them (we hope) to places of life and health.
If you have given support in the past to help me see people who don’t have resources to pay for counseling, thank you on their behalf and mine. Most clients really desire to pay the full price and are reluctant to ask for help. It makes me so thankful when I can say to a single mom or a struggling family, “I have churches and friends who help cover the cost.” That’s a great demonstration of the love of Jesus at work. And if you haven’t given before and you feel moved to help, consider making a donation by clicking the "donate" button below. You can also snail-mail a gift to me at Betty Carter, Daymark Counseling, PO Box 59768, Homewood, AL 35259.
I realize that people often have questions about Daymark’s sliding scale, why we raise support, and what counseling from a Christian worldview looks like. I love answering questions. Feel free to email me at betty@daymarkcounseling.com, or text or call me at 205-516-0229.
Gratefully,
Betty Carter
